Monarch Rowing Club is
an occasional boat club which aims to provide rowing
facilities for staff and associates of Monarch Airlines. The Club meets to row at mutually arranged times and places, to suit the shift patterns and locations of Monarch staff. This means that a crew can assemble without being constrained to the fixed 'club nights' or weekends of other rowing clubs. Currently, rowing could be arranged on the River Nene at Northampton or on the River Soar at Loughborough, which is close to East Midlands Airport. We are always keen to hear from new members, particularly anybody who has rowed at an earlier age and then let the sport lapse; this is your chance to get yourself back on to the water! Coxes are also especially welcome - no previous experience is necessary and training can be given. With an emphasis on having fun, and enjoying the sport of rowing, we have already raced in a regional competitive event and ultimately would like to challenge other airline crews, using our optimistic principle of "Low Cost - High Speed". |
